Preventive office visits
A preventive office visit in a physician, office includes questions about various tests that will keep you from getting various diseases like colon or breast cancer. You physician wants to be sure you are getting these tests. However, a preventive visit with a physical therapist (PT) is very different. These visits usually last an hour and for about 30 minutes your therapist is measuring your strength, flexibility, endurance, posture and balance from head to toe. Upon completion of these tests your therapist will give your specific exercises based on what you need or they may give you a pat on the back and tell you to keep doing what you are doing or they may send you to physical therapy for a more detailed exercise program and progression.
Who should get this preventive visit with a PT? Everyone but definitely people over the age of 50.
Exercising properly started early can keep you healthy and pain free for years to come.
